Who Are We

Why We Sing is a podcast of United Christian Faith Ministries with a mission to explore the purpose, power, and significance of singing and music in our Christian walk and everyday lives.

We aim to:
  • Interview individuals from all walks of life including songwriters, artists, worshippers on the role, significance, and impact that music and singing has on various aspects of their everyday lives and walk with Christ.
  • Explore the biblical significance, history, and purpose of singing and music.
  • Educate listeners on the power of music, styles and types of music, and encourage increased awareness and understanding of the music we listen to and the lyrics we sing.
United Christian Faith Ministries (UCFM) in partnership with the Baton Rouge Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is hosting "An Overcomer's Testimony" - a night of music and a powerful testimony with Jackie Gouche. The event will be held at 6:30pm on Tuesday, June 20th at UCFM, 9229 N. Ridgewood Dr. Baton Rouge, LA 70814.

Jackie is a musician, singer and songwriter who has traveled to six of the seven continents, singing in studios and on stages behind some of the most notable names in the music Industry including Elton John, Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Diana Ross, Chaka Kahn, Quincy Jones, Patti LaBelle, Jill Scott, Yolanda Adams, and a host of others. She has also served as a Minister of Music in Los Angeles, CA for the past 35 years.

Jackie has authored three books. In her most recent work, Raising Kings, Jackie candidly shares of her experience of faith, resilience, and overcoming drug addiction while raising her three sons: Daniel (D Smoke) Farris, Sir Darryl Farris (Inglewood Sir) and Davion Farris - all Grammy-nominated artists who are taking the music industry by storm!
