Holy Boldness: Not Being Ashamed of The Truth
Written by: Melinda Dupas
To share the truth (the gospel) we must know the truth. The main reason a lie can prevail for so long is that the truth isn’t being shared or brought to the light. The truth of the Bible, God’s holy word is that we were sinners and in need of a savior which is Christ. That is the truth. The lie that the enemy and many who follow his trail of unbelief is that if we just do “good things” that makes us right with Christ. He then continues this lie with also making sin look so good and inviting that we tend to believe that the blood of Jesus is not enough. The lies of Satan can only prevail because there is an absence of the truth.
Scripture tells us in 1 Peter 3:15 “But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect”.
Once you know the truth you can’t help but share it with others. The apostles were persecuted for simply sharing the gospel. Don’t think that it will be all lollipops and rainbows when sharing the gospel with others. There will be backlash, humiliation, rejection, and pride arising in those who will simply disagree. This is when you will really be able to tell if you know why you believe what you believe and why you say it’s the truth. However, scripture does tell us to do this with gentleness and respect. For example, when sharing the gospel with an unsaved loved one or friend its not time to be judgmental nor is it the time to boast in the knowledge of the scriptures. We are to share this glorious gospel that while we were, yet sinners Christ died for us that we may have eternal life and walk boldly in the newness of life here in this earth sharing this truth with others.
Ephesians 2:10 states “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.
The only good work you should be focused on is spreading the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ. Accepting Christ as our savior is something we should never be ashamed of. He has brought us out of the darkness into his marvelous light and into this wonderful hope we have in him. How could anybody be ashamed of that? Don’t let people with a Pharisee mindset stop you from sharing the good news.
If Christ has truly set you free there is always a time and place to share the truth. Whether it’s via social media, the street, or the grocery store let the truth be heard to all. Remember to do this with love and compassion. The sinner doesn’t need your frowns and condemnation they need hope! The only hope we as believers have in this world is in Christ.
Daily reading of God’s word will ignite this fire in you to share the truth of God’s word with others. Scripture equips us to be bold and unashamed. Reading through Acts ad the gospels will show you the path of being bold and having compassion and not compromising the message to avoid offense. Remember that not all will receive this truth, but if just one person walks away with the knowledge of the gospel and the desire to change and truly walk with Christ then it’s all worth it. Be bold and be unashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
